The two-steps verification is a step up to app developers because hackers and profile thieves/scammers are stepping up daily – they are becoming creative daily but this creativity is not for your good.
Here is a short story as narrated by Chika Mercy, I also had a similar issue but hers looks best.

Permit me to share with you the incident that occurred to me today.
At about 11:51am, a man called me asking if I benefited anything from the lecture that took place on a group chat (WhatsApp), I said yes, I got value.
He said there’s going to be an extension of another group crafted out from the initial group for serious minded people, that some few selected people have been registered already. He added that a code is going to be forwarded to me (6digit), I should memorise and call it out for him when he calls back. Okay, I replied.
Mind you, this is a group I joined yesterday with the information (Online Training for young Journalists) shared by one of my lecturers on our learning platform, not as if I saw a group then jumped in. Moreover the tutor himself never said he was going to create another group but we should maintain this one for further vital information.
He called back afterwards. The code was mentioned to him as agreed but the conversation changed.
Him: Do you manage your WhatsApp account by yourself?
Him: The reason I’m asking is because we need your personal information as it will help us to register you on that special group.
Me: Which of my personal info do you need?
Him: Your WhatsApp code
Me: Why? What for?
Him: We need it to access other things. You will stand to benefit a lot from the programme we are organising on how to tackle Covid-19 which many people don’t know about. The secret and why it still exists in Nigeria.
Me: Thank you. I’m not Interested.
“Chai!” There’s nothing this man didn’t say to see that I release my code. After requesting for my code for three consecutive times, when he finds out that I was being headstrong, boom!
Him: Thunder fire you there! Idiot!!
Me: Let the thunder that’s mixed up with coronavirus kill you there and your entire family. 😏😒 thief. May fire of the Holy Ghost consume you. You think I’m daft? You will never know peace for causing people troubles…. (he hanged up after we don abuse ourselves finish). 😂😂😂😂
Me that I’m looking for who to scam lol, and someone want to scam me (I am not a scammer) 🏃 . He didn’t even use better things to convince me… But Covid-19. Who coronavirus help!? 😎😕
However, the image attached was what I saw when I opened my WhatsApp. I almost shit for body 😢. Thank God everything is still intact.
Please for no reason should you give out your personal information to anyone no matter how close he/she is to you. Had it been I wasn’t smart enough I would have fallen victim.
Note: If you haven’t set a code for your WhatsApp account please follow this steps:
Go to settings, click on Account, click on Two-step verification, then do the needful. It only requires 6digit number.
May God save us from the hands of these evil men. Amen.
