Why We Endorsed Senator Uche Ekwunife For Another Term

Clamour For Igbo Presidency, Right, Fair and Equitable, says Ekwunife

The New Nigeria Mandate, a major support group within the OBI-DATTI family in Anambra State, has given reasons why it endorsed the re-election of Uche Ekwunife (Iyom) of the Peoples Democratic Party for another term as the Senator for Anambra Central.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Awka on Monday February 20, 2023, the group led by Hon. Peter Ezenwafor described the Senator as “a leader who has demonstrated great love and passion for her people through her community projects across all the Wards in Anambra Central”.

The statement was signed by Ezenwafor and the chairmen of the group in all the seven local government areas of Anambra Central Senatorial District.

They said Anambra Central would be making a wise decision to re-elect her as the Senator representing the district in the forthcoming election.

While throwing their weight solidly behind the presidential ambition of Peter Obi of Labour Party, they also directed their teeming members especially in Anambra Central to mobilize their supporters to vote for Senator Ekwunife on Saturday 25th February 2023.

On the rumours making the rounds in some quarters that the Senator is campaigning against Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party, the group exonerated the Senator and declared it was all propaganda and “a calculated falsehood by enemies of good governance”. According to them “Senator Uche Ekwunife has never been caught on tape, or by any other means, neither is there any evidence to prove that she is speaking ill of Mr. Peter Obi or his political ambition”.

The leaders singled out Ekwunife for endorsement for the Senate because “her achievements are resounding and her impacts in developing human resources in Anambra Central are enviable and exceptional”.

The statement was signed by Hon Peter Ezenwafor, Anambra State Chairman of the group. Others include chairmen of the group in the various local government areas of Anambra Central: Mr Chuks Ibe, (Awka South); Mr Aguluka Nnamdi (Anaocha); Mr Nkam Uchenna (Awka North); Mr Kingsman Nwankwo (Dunukofia); Mr Adigwe Samson (Idemmili North); Mr Chukwuma Unegbu (Idemmili South) and Mr Ifeanyi Okafor (Njikoka)
