Game of Thrones actor and Marvel star Jason Momoa has defended Will Smith, describing him as an amazing human being despite controversy surrounding his slap of Chris Rock.
Momoa was sitting in the front row when Will Smith stepped up to the stage and slapped Chris Rock in an incident that stunned the world.
“It’s just people, we’re under a microscope,” said Momoa.
“I don’t know what really it was for him, but he’s an amazing human being. Both of them [are] and they’ll work it out.”
Jason Momoa suggested people should consider Will Smith’s mental state on the day as it may have played a role on his decision to slap Chris Rock.
“I was pretty shocked,” added Momoa. “You just never know where people are at, you know? There’s a tipping point for everyone, right?
“I’ve had my places. He can ask for forgiveness. Sometimes you’re just sensitive. We’re all sensitive. I’m not walking in his shoes, [but] I’ve definitely been in places like that.”
Meanwhile, Will Smith has reacted to the decision of the Academy (Oscars) to ban him from its events for ten years.
In a brief statement, he told Page Six that he accepts the decision.
His terse statement read, “I accept and respect the Academy’s decision.”
However, the award for Best Actor was not withdrawn from him.
This is coming after the actor regretted and apologized for his actions.
He admitted that his behaviour towards Chris Rock was “embarrassing and unacceptable.”
