The Federal Government has announced the appointment of Dr Abdul Adedotun as the substantive Rector of Yaba College of Technology.
Deputy registrar of the college, Mr Joe Ejiofor, in a social media post said, “FG Appoints Dr Ibraheem Adedotun Abdul as Yabatech Rector.”
Until his appointment, Adedotun was the Director Centre for Open Distance and Flexible e-Learning, Yaba College of Technology, Yaba, Lagos.
Adedotun holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, a Master of Science in Industrial & Production Engineering, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Engineering).
He succeeds Dr Obafemi Omokungbe whose tenure ended recently.
Omokungbe, officially bowed out of office on Sunday, Jan 29, 2023, after concluding a five-year service in the college.
The engineer, assumed office as the rector of YABATECH on March 8, 2018.
He joined the service of the college as Lecturer III in 1993 and rose through the ranks to become a Chief Lecturer in the Civil Engineering Department, School of Civil Engineering and Natural Resources in 2009.
Omokungbe was also the head, Department of Civil Engineering from 2007 to 2009 and was a one-time president, Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (YABATECH branch).
