Ajimobi to convene NEC meeting soon
Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the new acting Chairman of the All Preogressive Congress (APC) has stated that he will convene a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.
The former governor of Oyo state was reacting to his emergence as the APC acting national chairman on Tuesday, June 16.
Ajimobi spoke through his special adviser, communication and strategy, Bolaji Tunji after he took over the leadership of the party in line with Section 14 subsection 3 of the APC constitution that states that, “the deputy national chairman shall act as the national chairman in the absence of the national chairman from his zone.”
According to a statement by the spokesman, the NEC will aim at resolving all contentious issues.
“We should, therefore, let peace continue to reign until we call the NEC meeting and take a position on the way forward,” he said.
Before his emergence as the APC leader, Abiola Ajimobi was the deputy national chairman (south) of the APC.
He takes over from Comrade Adams Oshiomhole who was thrown out of the position by an Appeal Court verdict.
Ajimobi, however, called on all APC stakeholders to continue to observe the peace as he assumes the position as acting national chairman of the ruling party.
