BONSUE, many injured as APC, ADC Supporters Clash

Ondo West: A violent clash has ensued at the Yaba Area of Ondo town, between the supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and that of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have left BONSUE and many others injured.

 

It was gathered that many people were seriously injured and no fewer than 15 vehicles were vandalised in the clash that started Thursday evening.

 

The incident came a few hours before the local government election in the state.

 

The cause of the fight was unknown as of the time of filing this report but it was learnt that the clash was not unconnected with the council poll coming up on Saturday.

Meanwhile, in a press statement, the APC Central Campaign Media Sub Committee have described the attack as unfortunate.

 

The APC says the attack was carried out on them by “some hoodlums suspected to be hired political thugs of Action Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ondo Kingdom.”

 

“The attacks may not be unconnected with the popularity and acceptability of APC in Ondo West and the recent defections of some grassroot leaders/mobilisers of ADC and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) into the APC.” The continued.

 

“These agents of death came in their numbers brandishing dangerous weapons such as axes , cutlasses, daggers, clubs etc searching for leaders/members of APC in Ondo West to devour.”

Hon. Akintoroye Kehinde, popularly known as BONSUE was not so lucky as he was attacked in Surulere Street, at  the paternal residence of Hon. AkInsulire Ayodeji Ebenezer, the Ondo West LG Chairmanship candidate of APC in this Saturday’s local government election.

 

According to APC, “Bonsue was matcheted and stabbed by these hired thugs. The Ondo Central Forest Task Force officer is on a danger list battling for his life in the State Specialist Hospital, Ondo. Other leaders of APC present at the time of attack escaped by the whiskers.”

 

Paternal Residence of Hon. Ebenezer Ayodeji Akinsulire was damaged while branded campaign cars of Hon. Akinsulire Ayodeji Ebenezer, Hon. Akinrotoye Kehinde (BONSUE), Folajimi Akintewe and others were not spared by “these rampaging political miscreants.”

 

Ondo West APC therefore “call the attention of the general public most especially Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu SAN, Osemawe in Council, security agencies, well meaning people, to this unprovoked attacks on the peace loving leaders and members of Ondo West APC.”

“These hired thugs” they say “are still on the loose and threatening fire and brimstone.”

 

“As a matter of urgency, security agencies must live up to their constitutional responsibility and provide adequate security for all the leaders and members of APC in Ondo West to secure their lives and properties.”

 

“Regardless of these unfortunate situations, Ondo West APC will continue to pursue peace at all times.”
