OGIRS COMMENCES ROAD TAXES’ ENFORCEMENT

The Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS) has commenced enforcement of road taxes, with a call on motorists to be law abiding, by validating their old number plates, register their vehicles properly and renew other expired particulars as and when due.

Speaking during the exercise, which was a joint effort with the Nigeria Police, Federal Road Safety Commission and Vehicle Inspection Services, the Director of Other Taxes, OGIRS, Mrs. Olubisi Ajomale, said the move was not only for revenue generation but to ensure safety of road users, explaining that vehicle particulars were means of identifying original vehicle owners.

She noted that the enforcement, in line with the provision of the Nigeria Tax Law, started in Abeokuta zone and would be carried out in other zones within the stipulated period of two weeks.
