It was an obedience to a clarion call yesterday as Dr. Abasiono Okon met with all the village youth presidents of ward 9 at the residence of the village head of Uyo Obio in Ediene, Akwa Ibom State, to discuss matters affecting ward 9 with an advise to support Gov Udom Emmanuel developmental strives.
The youth presidents in their numbers, expressed their gratefulness on the recognition of their position by Dr. Abasiono, as they raised concern over the many positive and negative happenings in the community. They also posed dissatisfaction on the negligence to community building by some political office holders over time.
Akparawa Bassey Henry who opened the floor enunciated that no individual, cooperate organization or political office holder have ever recognized their effort towards maintaining peace, integrating unity and developing the community, which he appraised the kind gesture exhibited by Dr. Abasiono in hosting them to a meeting to know how the community and its people therein was fairing, the challenges and new development.
Dr. Abasiono Okon thanked them for the invitation and for recognizing him as well. He also appreciated them for sustaining peace and harmony in the society, he described them as the real custodian of peace.
He went further to expound the many achievements of Gov. Udom Emmanuel, his readiness to always integrate, empower, employ through his industrialization policy & DAKKADA philosophy which has made many think inward to discover their skills and talents and in refurbishing the existing infrastructure in communities in the 31 L. G. Area of which Ikono can point to the General Hospital Ibiaku Ntok Okpo, the road that lead to the only tertiary institution in Ikono, College of Science & Technology, others approved roads for construction, etc.
He assured the youth presidents of the imminent visit of the Governor to the community and esteemed them on their effort, also charged them to keep up with the tempo.
Thereafter, he hosted the youths of Afaha Ediene to an exponential meeting which turned a fete.
The many youths who spoke, thanked Dr Abasiono Okon for always being in the forefront of brooking peace in the society.
They also admonish the role played by their brother, Charly Bright in the elders forum as they disown such action which almost cost an unrest in the society.
