Lagos State COVID-19 Guidelines for Restaurant Operators

Lagos State COVID-19 Guidelines for Restaurant Operators – – The Lagos State Government has released guidelines for restaurants operators to resume after the general lockdow in the state which was recently relaxed.

The government said operators of restaurants and eateries in Lagos state must put in place measures to check the spread of COVID-19 in their space and the state at large or risk heavy sanctions.

It said temperature checks must be conducted on all customers and employees, adding that visitors must stand six feet apart.

Employees of such restaurants, must wear face coverings and gloves at all times, the Lagos state government instructs.

The new set of guidelines, according to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr Solomon Bonu, are to mitigate exposure to coronavirus.

In a statement on Wednesday, Bonu, noted that due to the Ramadan fast, restaurants could open between 9am and 7pm.

He stressed that they were, however, restricted to take-away packs and orders.

The special adviser assured that the activities of all eateries would be monitored by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

“He said the ministry has set up a task force to monitor, arrest and prosecute erring facilities for non-compliance, saying comprehensive guidelines will be issued and made available to the operators.”

“While maintaining that hotels, bars and clubs remain shut until the state government decides otherwise, Bonu revealed that as part of the new guidelines, employees of restaurants and eateries are now required to wear face coverings and gloves at all times, adding that such coverings must be cleaned or replaced daily,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, 10 persons “associated” with the State House in Marina, have tested positive for coronavirus.

State Health Commissioner, Prof Akin Abayomi, made this disclosure on Thursday afternoon via Twitter.

He, however, did not give any detail about the identity of the infected persons but stressed that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his wife, Joke Sanwo-Olu tested negative for the virus.

He said, “I am glad to announce that COVID-19 Incident Commander Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the First Lady, Joke Sanwoolu have consistently tested negative for COVID-19 following three consecutive tests conducted on them recently.”

“However, 10 persons associated with Lagos State House in Marina have tested positive to COVID-19.”

“I, therefore, implore you all to continue to embrace the #MaskUpLagos initiative and observe all precautionary measures such as physical distancing, hand washing, and other personal hygiene. All directives on easing lockdown in Lagos State remain in force. It is our collective responsibility to do all we can to stop the spread of COVID-19.”
