In Africa, Elders are highly venerated people. They lead exemplary lives through their conducts and lifestyle.

Being a former two-term governor with vast experience as a labour leader, one would have easily categorized Adams Aliu Oshiomhole as an Elder Statesman. However, his recent behaviours and dispositions have sold him short of that respect.

It is highly appalling how the National Chairman of Nigeria’s ruling party has been frolicking in ignobility and displaying sheer callousness with the plight of citizens of his home state currently part of the global war against the coronavirus pandemic.

Last week Oshiomhole like Judas betrayed President Muhammadu Buhari, the Federal Government, the APC, the good people of Edo State and the Government of Edo state in their relentless fight against the pandemic when he organized a mock primary for his dissident faction, the EPM.

This event breached all COVID-19 preventive measures and was a display of the jawbreaking desperation of Oshiomhole and his cronies amidst the sober state of the world and the state occasioned by the pandemic.

In perilous times as these, when true Elders are showing sympathy and philanthropic gestures to society’s downtrodden to assuage the impact of COVID-19 on them, Oshiomhole in a conspicuous display of inhumanity was busy engaging in political subterfuge,he has failed to compliment the state government effort to cushion the economic effect of the pandemic on Edolites.

Furthermore, he placed everyone as that illegal gathering at risk of contracting the dreaded virus.

His action is a sabotage of the Federal Government’s fight against the pandemic as shows utter disrespect for President Muhammadu Buhari.

This is preposterous, ridiculous and unbecoming of an elder statesman. Adams Oshiomhole should be called to order and his acolytes held accountable for their misdemeanors.
