ONDO 2020: IT’S EITHER DIRECT PRIMARY OR COURT INJUNCTION – NOT TOO YOUNG TO RULE.

ONDO 2020: IT’S EITHER DIRECT PRIMARY OR COURT INJUNCTION – NOT TOO YOUNG TO RULE.

On the backdrop of the current legal tussle on who is the right chairman of the party at the state level, majority of the Youths led by National Coordinator of Not too Young to Rule ( Hon Ogundairo Samuel) had expressed their readiness to invoke the law on the party since there is division and crisis within it, should the National Working Committee succumb to the yearning of the few agitating for indirect primary against the wishes of the majority of the aspirants, party leaders and even party members, clamoring for direct primary.

It’s clear that in a situation like this where there is a rift in the party executives, occasioned by bribery & corruption on the side of the Adetimehin led excos, to favour a particular candidate (the incumbent governor), making the party factional, the only democratic means, & remedy to a political vendetta, is direct primary, where there will be equal opportunity for all to contest & test their popularity with the masses (all the card carrying party members) at the primary election.

Like Mr. Olu Olatuja the state acting factional chairman of the party aptly captured it, the withdrawal of a single person (having being reportedly induced by #10,000,000), from the suit filed by 13, can in no wise render the suit dead. By all standard, in the legal interpretation of it, even in Mathematics, it’s an issue of majority against minority. So the suit stands, just as Mr. Olatuja led excos had even thrown their weight behind direct primary, in line with agitation of the party stakeholders, majority aspirants, leaders & members.

Anything short of this is undemocratic, unacceptable & will attract a litigation & by extension, a court injunction on the election.

It’s on this note the National Coordinator of Not too Young to Rule and other concerned Stakeholders unanimously want to appeal to the National Working Committee to jettison any kind of appeal by the minority to conduct indirect primary.

If there is no skeleton in the cupboard, there would be no reason for someone to be afraid to go to the field in a direct primary election by his own party members. And by extension, we make bold to say that, the fear of one to accept direct primary speaks volume of the candidate’s unpopularity, & which can make the party to lose the state, even if such a candidate maneuvered his way into the general election, which will not even work.

As bonafide members of the party, we want to serve it as a notice, & in the spirit of love for our dear party APC ONDO State & National, that the repeat of Zamfara electoral saga is imminent & looming, should the National Working Committee yields to the minority against the majority.

We therefore say NO TO INDIRECT PRIMARY.

ON DIRECT PRIMARY WE STAND

Signed:

Hon Ogundairo Samuel
National Coordinator of Not too Young to Rule.
