Veins are typically identified as being varicose when they are enlarged and appear as bluish or reddish cords that can be seen underneath the skin. Varicose veins most commonly occur on the lower extremities. The cause is usually due to age along with obesity, lack of exercise, or prolonged standing. There are different stages of varicose veins that a sufferer may witness as the condition worsens.

Early signs of varicose veins may be treated with the use of compression techniques such as wearing support hose. As the condition progresses, the sufferer may experience painful inflammation, swelling, and a heavy feeling in their legs. Varicose veins are also known to be accompanied by spider veins, which intensifies the symptoms.

However, there is relief available that can be obtained from your local grocer. Garlic has the ability to soothe the inflammation and increase blood circulation. It can also break down toxins in the body and expedite their disposal through natural functions. To soothe pain and help control the appearance of varicose veins, you can add a garlic supplement to your regular diet. You can also apply a simple garlic mixture directly to the problem area for more immediate results.

There is an easy recipe that you can follow that only requires three garlic cloves, 3/4 cup of orange juice, and one tablespoon of olive oil.

First, finely grate the cloves of garlic and add them to a clean container. Make sure the container has a lid, because you will have to shake the mixture later. Next, add the orange juice. Then, add the olive oil. Finally, shake the mixture for about 30 seconds, and let it stand for about 12 hours before use.

After the proper amount of time has passed, shake the mixture again to get rid of any separation that may have occurred. Use two fingers to dip into the container. Apply to the affected area in a slow circular motion until the mixture is absorbed. Then, wrap the area with a warm bandage or towel and let sit for about 15 minutes. You should experience relief quickly. You can repeat this process as needed. However, keep in mind that results may vary.
