Four students leaving an Atlanta high school were wounded Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 14, when someone opened fire on them from a vehicle, the school district said.

The students of Benjamin E. Mays High School were shot at the lower campus parking lot, shortly after dismissal, Atlanta Public Schools said.

None of the four had injuries that were considered life-threatening, according to the district.

A post from X (formerly Twitter) page ATLSCOOP, read: “4 people shot at Benjamin Mays High school… students on lockdown… incident occurred around 4 PM”.

Shots reportedly came from an “unknown vehicle,” Atlanta News First said.

An Atlanta Public Schools spokesperson said in a statement: “Atlanta Public Schools Police Department and Atlanta Fire Rescue immediately responded to the situation, and all victims were transported to the hospital and confirmed to have non-life-threatening injuries”.

They added: “No other students, faculty, or staff were injured”.

The news comes on the same afternoon as a shooting across the country at the Kansas City Cheifs’ Super Bowl victory parade, in what has become a bloody day for the United States.
