CULTURAL PRESERVATION AND RESTORATION BILL in AKWA-IBOM

On Thursday, 14th May, in the Plenary, Akwa Ibom State a bill pushing for law on Cultural Preservation, Protection and Restoration read for the first time and passed first reading.



The bill sponsored by the Member representing Nsit Ubium State Constituency, Hon. (Barr.) Otobong Bob and others at Thursday Plenary titled “A Bill for a Law to provide for the Preservation, Protection and Restoration of Historical Properties and Cultural Heritage Sites in Akwa Ibom State and for connected purposes.”

 

The Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey referred the bill to the House Committee on Rules, Business, Ethics and Privileges for further legislative action.



Briefing the press short after plenary, the lawmaker, Hon. (Barr.) Otobong Bob, said the bill, when passed into law, will preserve, protect and restore historical properties and cultural heritage sites in the state.

 

Meanwhile, the House has adjourned its plenary to Tuesday, Thursday 28th May 2020 at 10am.
