Delta monarch serves Fulani herdsmen quit notice

The Traditional Ruler of Onicha Ugbo in Aiocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, HRM Obi Chukwumalieze, has assured residents that the menace of the Fulani Herdsmen in the town would soon be a thing of the past.

 

Obi Chukwumalieze who gave the assurance in his palace during an enlarged meeting of Ogbekenu people as well as non-indigenes in the community, urged the people to be patient with the Obi-in-council as the Fulani Herdsmen would vacate the community in no distant time.

He asserted that since the killing of Mr. Ifeanyi Izeke by the herdsmen, the Obi-in-council had held series of meetings with security agencies to proffer intelligent ideas and modalities on how to vacate them completely from the community without further jeopardizing the life of any resident.

 

The Monarch used the medium to appeal to the youths to sheath their swords and not take the laws into their hands for the needed peaceful atmosphere to achieve the expected result.

 

Also speaking, the Iyase Agba, Chief Alex Odi-Okoh, enjoined the people that knows where the herders reside in any location in the community not to hesitate to forward the information to the Obi-in-council for them to do the needful, saying that in time past the herders were driven away from people’s homes in the community.

He however sued for a peaceful environment to enable the process of their vacation from the community to be achieved in record time.

 

Responding, Mr. Afedi Odozi, Mr. Augustine Asimonye, Mrs. Elizabeth Ijeli, and Ms Uche Jesu, all appealed to the Obi and his cabinet members not to relent until the Fulani herders were completely evacuated from the bushes and farm lands. (Delta State News Bulletin)
