Do Men Fake Orgasms?

Researchers have reveal how many men put their acting chops to use in bed—and how often.

Women don’t have a monopoly on fake orgasms, according to new research published in the journal Sexual and Relationship Therapy.

For the study, researchers quizzed 458 men ages 18 to 29 about their sexual experiences over the past four months. Roughly 50 percent of the men admitted to faking it at least once during that time span.

But that’s not even the most surprising part: Researchers found that the guys who faked it were doing so 25 percent of the time—mostly when they had vaginal sex.

The researchers discovered that men were more likely to fake it when they had a bad sexual experience, just weren’t that into their partner, were drunk, weren’t really in the mood, or didn’t want to hurt their partner’s feelings.

If you’re consistently having trouble reaching orgasm while sober, you could have a condition called delayed ejaculation. About 8 percent of men have it, and it can be caused by certain medications, diabetes, depression, aging, or habitually masturbating in a way that’s hard to replicate during intercourse.
