Jonathan Visits Ganduje’s Residence

Jonathan Visits Ganduje’s Residence,

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has visited the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, at his residence in Abuja.

Details of the meeting is still unknown as of the time this report was filed.

But the ruling party posted images of the visit on its X account on Friday morning.

The post was captioned, “The National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, received in audience former President Goodluck Jonathan @GEJonathan at his residence in Abuja.”

The Nigerian leader is yet to comment on the visit or state its purpose.

Prior to the 2023 presidential elections, Jonathan was linked to the APC presidential race.

A coalition of northern groups had procured the APC presidential nomination and expression of interest forms for the former president.

Jonathan also met with Senator Abdullahi Adamu, immediate past Chairman of the ruling party.

The development came days after Jonathan had refused to give a definite answer when he was asked by some of his supporters, who had besieged his Abuja residence, on if he would contest the presidency.

“You are calling me to come and declare for the next election. I cannot tell you I’m declaring. The political process is ongoing. Just watch out.

“The key role you must play is to pray that Nigeria gets somebody that carries the young people along — somebody that can also work very hard to see that some of the problems are addressed by the government and I believe, collectively, we will work together,” he had said.

Last week, the APC governorship candidate in Bayelsa, Timipire Sylva, knocked Jonathan for saying he would have relocated his mother out of the state if Governor Duoye Diri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had lost the election.

He said this when he paid a congratulatory visit to Diri in Yenagoa.

Although Jonathan was a staunch PDP member throughout his active years in politics, he has distanced himself from the affairs of the party lately.

In 2019, he backed David Lyon, governorship candidate of the APC, who won the election, but was sacked by the Supreme Court.

APC governors and ministers had visited Jonathan over the short-lived victory.
