OGIRS Boss Underscores Importance Of Information Sharing Among Govt. Agencies

The Chairman, Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS), Mr. Olugbenga Anthony Olaleye, has spoken on the need for government agencies to share information, describing it as an important tool needed to strengthen collaboration, enhance productivity and ensure efficient service delivery.

Olaleye stated this while playing host to the newly posted Ogun State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Commander Anthony Uga, who was on a familiarisation visit to OGIRS office in Abeokuta.

He noted that the services delivered by the two agencies were related with reference to the motoring public and there is a need to work together by sharing relevant information that would assist in achieving a common goal of generating revenue for government coffers while ensuring sanity on the road.

Olaleye, according to OGIRS Press Officer, Mrs. Abolanle Ogunlami, said, “when information is shared among them, modality and processes of revenue generation in the area of Annual Proof of Ownership Certificate, Single Inter State Road Taxes Stickers (SIRTS), Single Haulage Fee (SHF), and regularization of vehicle papers would be seamless”.

In his remark, the FRSC Sector Commander pointed out that OGIRS was one of the agencies that was strategic to FRSC operations and the need to collaborate should not be underplayed.

He called for a collaborative effort at arresting vehicle owners that deliberately refused to renew their papers, saying the act is criminal and could be traced to some insecurities witnessed in the State.

“We have observed that some vehicle owners, especially Taxi drivers, drive with expired vehicle papers. Since the papers were not renewed, they couldn’t be traced as they could have been sold and resold to different people. Only God knows the havoc they use to commit”, Uga said.
