Professor Emeka Ezeonu to Chair AMTY Awards

Harvard-trained Professor of Biochemistry and former INEC REC, Professor Emeka Ezeonu will chair the upcoming prestigious AMTY Awards. The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on December 29, 2023.

 

Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, the Director of Media for the AMTY Awards, stated that Professor Ezeonu was chosen for this role due to his exceptional academic background and accomplishments.

 

With over 22 years of experience as a professor and a strong presence in the field of teaching and research, Professor Ezeonu has made significant contributions to the academia.

Professor Ezeonu has published over 100 journal and conference papers and holds dual Professorial seats in Applied Biochemistry and Drug & Pharmaceutical Chemistry.

 

He has also gained international recognition through his appointment as the only African Scientist in a 31-member Joint FAO/WHO Independent International Expert Committee on Bisphenol A. One of his research papers has even been adopted as a Scientific Supporting Document for Nitrate Quality Guidelines in Water in Canada.

 

As a Harvard-trained decision engineer, he has served in various leadership positions at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, including a two-term Dean of Student Affairs. He was also the founding Vice-Chancellor of Hezekiah University, Umudi, Imo State. Additionally, he has contributed significantly to national assignments, such as serving on two Federal Ministerial Committees in Education, as well as Science, Technology, and Innovation.

Furthermore, he was appointed as a Resident Electoral Commissioner by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, showcasing his commitment to public service.

 

Professor Ezeonu’s exceptional skills and accomplishments have earned him numerous commendations and honors throughout his career.
