'Stop asking people to pray for Nigeria' - Betty Irabor tells Adeboye, others

Betty Irabor has asked “men of God” to stop asking their congregation to pray about the “current economic crisis” of Nigeria.

The entrepreneur also said they (Men of God) should rather become “answered prayers”, by doing charitable work for their members.

“Dear ‘Men of God’, can you please stop asking people to pray for solutions to Nigeria’s current economic crisis?” she said.

“How about you actually becoming answered prayers by opening food banks, blood bank, soup kitchens, shelter, and dispensaries for your members.”

Irabor made this opinion after the general overseer of the Redeem Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye requested that members of his congregation pray over the rising exchange rate in Nigeria.

Dear “Men of God”, can u pls stop asking people to pray for solutions to Nigeria’s current economic crisis? How about you actually becoming answered prayers by opening food banks, blood bank, soup kitchens, shelter and dispensaries for your members?

Trying to be seen, Tara Durotoye opposed Irabor’s stance on the issue through a post on her IG page.

Tara argued that many pastors already do charitable works for their members, but do not “generally publicise it”.

She also cited Paul Adefarasin, the founder of House on the Rock church, as an example of the “men of God who do charity”.

“I disagree with this post. Many ‘Men Of God’ already do this e.g food banks etc,” she said.

“Let me start by saying that churches generally do not publicize when they do this. This is my first post for the year but needed to post this here.

“If your man of God does the above, please let us know, tag them. I will start with mine @pauladefarasin @houseontherockchurch. Happy New Year!”

Tara is a beauty entrepreneur and lawyer. She is also a pioneer in the bridal makeup profession in Nigeria.

She launched the first bridal directory in Nigeria in 1999. She is married to Fela Durotoye, the business consultant, and their union is blessed with three kids.

Betty, on the other hand, is also the host and presenter of ‘Life’s Lessons with Betty Irabor’. She is married to Soni Irabor and they have two children.
