What the reconstruction of Agbo-Oba Oja-Tuntun Road means for Kwarans

Since the downpour stopped late last year, the Kwara State Government under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has embarked on the reconstruction and maintenance of several roads in the state capital and other areas of the state. I recall vividly that the government made the promise during the rainy season, and is delivering just that since the rainfall has stopped.

Today, I’m so much delighted that the Kwara State Government has commenced a comprehensive reconstruction of Agbo-Oba Oja-Tuntun Road in Ilorin, the state capital. The socio-economic impact of this road cannot just be overemphasized. It is a road that leads to a major market in the state, where economic activities take place every now and then.

Oja Tuntun contains big warehouses, shops and stores where all kinds of products from across the country could be found. With the volume of transactions that take place in the market every blessed day, its contribution to the state IGR is not something we can write off. Oja Tuntun is a mecca of a sort that welcomes people in droves.

The reconstruction of that road will now ensure smooth vehicular movements to and fro the market. The obvious potholes littered on the road will now be covered, and that is healthy for the huge number of vehicles that pass through that route on a daily basis.

I was at the market recently, and I can testify to the joy that the market executives, customers and other road users expressed about the reconstruction. It is one that brings relief to their doorstep. They have praised the government for the ongoing effort, which is similar to the one done at Yoruba Road Market.

I believe the state government will continue to attend to the deficiencies and gaps in our road networks as resources permit. Good road network is a priority for the AbdulRazaq-led administration. Construction of roads in rural communities will also kickstart very soon through the RAAMP initiative.

Kwara is recording progress.
