AbdulRahman’s KwaraLEARN: A Death Sentence for Teachers

2 days ago, a video surfaced on social media platforms, showing teachers protesting their unfair treatment under the KwaraLEARN scheme. As a concerned Kwaran, curiosity led me to investigate the matter further, a decision that plunged me into an emotional quagmire.

Evidently, KwaraLEARN has transformed into a death sentence, with teachers being confined to concentration camps disguised as hostels. They are served meals more fitting for hardened criminals and subjected to poor welfare conditions, leading to at least 3 cases of teachers allegedly collapsed including the one that happened while observing Jumuah prayer at Queen school yesterday.

One would have expected swift actions with heads rolling, arrests made, and a panel of inquiry set up to investigate the case. Instead, active efforts are being made to sweep the issues under the carpet, which shows little regard for the lives at risk.

The teachers’ protest against the sacrilegious meal which gained attention on social media, suggests a consistent pattern of such treatment which inevitably led to their agitations. In fact, previous meals were confirmed to be sour or borderline unhealthy, which raises concerns about whether these teachers are unknowingly facing a death sentence.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has taken on the role of a proverbial wicked madam who subjects her house help to inhumane treatment while expecting her to help nurture her children with love and care.

If this is the harsh reality our teachers endure in the name of training to better educate our children, I cannot help but worry about the fate of our wards under their care.
