As the Peoples Democratic Party’s ( PDP) Campaign Train moves across various communities in Ondo South District to canvass for votes ahead of the February 25th general elections, the former Deputy Governor of Ondo state and PDP candidate for Ondo South Senatorial District in the 2023 General Elections, Chief Alfred Agboola Ajayi has berated the state government for forcefully and unjustifiable takeover of the people’s farmland, particularly in Okitipupa and Odigbo local government areas.

Majority of the people in the state are farmers whose means of livelihoods largely depend on access to arable land for crops’ plantation. However, during the campaign tour the people lamented the Ondo state government’s policy of forceful land acquisition camouflaged as foreign investment which has completely crippled the people’s economy.

Ajayi who spoke on Tuesday during the PDP’s ‘ Ward Rallies and Campaign’ across Odigbo local government areas, condemned the present administration in the state for forcefully acquiring the people’s farmland for personal gains. He described the policy as unfair, callous and anti people, especially the downtrodden. Moreso that farmland and forest resources in the northern part of the state are reserved and protected whilst both land and forest resources in the South are being exploited by profiteers in government.

He therefore urged the people to vote APC out of government. ” The APC has brought economic woes, insecurity and untold hardship upon the people. Prices of goods and services have skyrocketed – a bag of rice is now N50,000, fuel is N600 per liter and life is becoming almost unbearable for Nigerians. Is this how you want Nigeria to continue ? Please, my people, the Permanent Voters’ Card is your power to send APC away. You know they have practically taken over all your land. If they care about your welfare, they wouldn’t seized your means of livelihoods ,” he said.

Also, the chairman of Ondo South Senatorial District Campaign Council, Prince John Ola Mafo has asked the people to reject APC’s gimmick of sharing rice and other food items less than 30 days before election. He argued that the APC has been in government for eight years but has nothing to show for it except inflation, urging the people to vote for PDP at all levels.
