Bolaji Abdullahi’s interview, a naked terrorism

I read an interview by the former Minister of Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi where he said PDP has lost its steam and the affair of 2027 is not looking good for the party in Kwara. I am an admirer of the respected individual, and I still do till date on the area of intellect, but his character has not been the best, especially after the 2019 electoral loss of the PDP.

May I ask, what is Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi doing or has been doing to ensure the party is better positioned for power in 2027? So often the former Minister mistakes acting poor for being humble, who has he been able to keep as his person in over two decades of being in the spotlight? He needs to sit down and re-evaluate his journey, he has done little for the party and saw it as a mere vehicle for fulfilling personal ambition.

Yes, I agreed with many of his interviews on PDP post-2019. That was because some of us shared sentiments that he should have gotten the party ticket and be our flag bearer. However, this recent interview is mere naked terrorism. Each time things don’t seem to go his way, you will see him in the media beating down the party and the structure. This has been a consistent act. No doubt, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi is a brilliant man, however, I imagine the amount of time he dedicates to persuading himself as a genius. This was evident in the build-up to the 2023 elections, he fenced away people from the structure in his campaign council, and the best approach he thought was best to win was to write letters and project his counterpart as being not up to the task, I registered this personally to you ahead of the build-up to the elections. It was a tough job for the PDP supporters when letters were flying around and they did their best to find merit in defending such an unconventional approach. Yes, his opponent was a heavy spender, but one would have expected Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi to have worked twice as required against such an individual and move closer to the grassroots.

What has Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi gained post-2023 beyond visiting, and dining with political enemies of the PDP that has allegedly lost its steam? Post-2019 was an attempt not made by Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi to sabotage the PDP when he was unable to clinch the ticket. A friend once told me how remarkable the loyalty of Mallam Bolaji was, and I asked in return if the PDP and structure had not been loyal to Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi in return. In fact, didn’t he obtain the Senatorial ticket via blackmailing in the 2023 elections? Loyalty goes both ways, for the time Mallam Bolaji has been loyal to us, we have been loyal to him in return.

PDP has lost its steam, let Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi tell us what is attractive in him beyond being water coloured as a brilliant man ahead of 2027. He is not a man of principle, when people approach him for help no matter how basic, he laments his humble purse but easily gets irritated when another person fulfills it, even if such an individual is his close ally or principal.

Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi should not be afraid to defect from the party, and I am in no way speaking on behalf of the party or the structure. If it has lost its steam, beyond hiding in corners until the next election to fight for the ticket, what is he doing? I am certain Mallam Bolaji saw clearly what Yahaya Seriki did as empowerment despite never being in places BJ has been to, at what point has BJ ever done something that is as medium as that to help people of Ilorin or the party?

Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi should stop this naked terrorism on the party he has contributed so little to, especially after losing elections in 2023. He may need to re-evaluate his person rather than throwing tantrums and seeking the spotlight with controversial interviews. Some of us have been PDP even when he and the entire structure defected to APC along with Leader. He cannot continue to rubbish our sacrifices and perseverance, and even if it is stone by stone, the crucial thing is to be making efforts towards positioning the party. If there are no kind words or efforts, Mallam Bolaji should kindly go and write another novel and depart from such naked terrorism. The door to exit the party for the one with steam is open, always open.
