By-election: Agi emerges APC C/River North Senatorial candidate

Former governorship aspirant and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Joe Odey Agi, has emerged the Senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming October 31 Cross River North Senatorial District by-election.

 

The Chairman of Cross River North Senatorial Primary Election, Alhaji Suleiman Nakowa disclosed this to newsmen at the party’s national Secretariat in Abuja on Friday.

 

Nakowa said the polled Agi 113, 229 votes to defeat his closest rival, the Vice Chancellor of Calabar, Prof. Zana Akpagu who scored 8, 635 votes.

Others who lost to Agi include: Harry Godwin Ode, Ochicha Ode and Fidelis Ebi Egoro.

 

Agi is an Abuja based lawyer and was involved in the 2015 governorship contest in his Cross River home state on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as an aspirant, where he lost to the incumbent Governor Ben Ayade.

 

The committee chairman said the election which was conducted through a direct primary mode, was peaceful.
