Dr Shehu Mahdi the hired parrot

Dr Mahdi is a hired parrot with a desperate desire to become Minister of Information before his failing heart sets at dawn

by Dr David Charima

Lai Mohammed snakingly walked his way into becoming the Minister of Information and Orientation by being mouthy and in discrediting the Government of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan who has apparently been vindicated by the failures of the current administration.

Professor Lai exaggerated the statistical indexes on corruption pre 2015 and used hate speech to make Mohammadu Buhari the sort after bride that has now left many wondering if this is a cloned version of the Almighty Warlord coming to dislodge insecurity, boost the economy and change the narrative of poor governance but even principled Buhari is popularky accused of nepotism and maladministration.

Again, it is noteworthy that as this administration winds up its tyrannical and clueless regime, many sugarcoated talkatives in different political parties are positioning themselves as mouthpieces of Presidential Candidates just to get appointments after Elections.

Festus, Fani, Bwala, Okwonkwo and Mahdi are the top politically loquacious hands hired to clear the way for their individual principals in the coming Presidential race. As much this is political, some are taking it a little too far for comfort and have resulted to name-calling and media trial. One of such is Dr Shehu Mahdi whose recent jab at Governor Wike is giving a trendy bite and more like and comments to his social media handles by novices and caprices.

Nigeria is at the ebb of total collapse and it is appalling when intellectuals so called abuse the regard and respect that comes with the highest educational attainment just to make a fortune and to be famous, ignoring the counsel of the good book that says ‘a good name is better than rices’.

Irrespective of my inclination and Political affiliation, I am committed to the pursuit of a better Nigeria that must be put in the right trajectory by abled men like Chief Dr Neysom Wike who has singular guts to challenge systems and say no to impunity and injustices. Until the dogged position of Barrister Wike, the masses of Nigeria knew nothing about internal party hypocrisy and corruption; Nigerians never knew that Buhari has some good sides and to make Wike acceptable, no Governor supporting Atiku has his project-accomplishments record.

What Wike commissioned in one week is what states like Taraba, Sokoto and Katsina (where Mahdi is) are struggling to achieve one percent of, in eight years. No wonder Sokoto, Taraba and Katsina are the top ranking poorest states in Nigeria according to verifiable statistics within and outside the country.

We must protect and stand for what is best for our country and standing against people well financed by the political class to silence the voice of reason and hope for all is to be playing to the gallery while leading over 200 million citizens to their political and economic guillotine in 2023.

My take is not who emerges as President or who Dr Mahdi is supporting but for his cynical and selfish attacks on Governor Wike who is the only voice of voiceless Nigerians with impeccable track record of people-oriented projects to be on the spotlight of hate speech by someone as academically revered as Dr Shehu Mahdi.

In my opinion, Dr Shehu should concentrate on Presidential Candidates on the ballot and not Barrister Wike who has more antecedents than all those contesting. Enough is enough. If old age can not wheel out wisdom, the young men like us will strip naked the foolishness of the old and face the dire consequences in our time.

Dr Mahdi focus on issue-based engagements rather than trying to score cheap political points like the other Senator who arranged his failed assassination attempts in Rivers State. We know your type. Focus!

Nigeria needs Wike now more than all those caricatures playing comical roles in the name of vying for presidency. We ignore Wike at our own peril.
