Edo APC Crisis: Messier when Court direct the actions – – No one is in doubt that APC Edo state is yet into another crisis. The crisis has snowballed into anti Oshomole and pro Oshomole, anti Obaseki and pro Obaseki. Some will outrightly term the Edo APC crisis as factions created by pro Oshiomole and pro Obaseki. Even the APC National crisis have been termed by some to be a product of Anti Oshiomole forces versus Pro Obaseki forces.
It is failure on both Oshiomlole and Obaseki that they cannot settle their differences in the bathroom and are now robing it on the party. More disappointedly is the fact that the party have lost most of it’s opportunities by allowing the courts to decide it’s actions because of it’s failure to internally address it’s crisis by entrenching the supremacy of the Party’s constitution. At some points, the party has been enmeshed in situations that have left individual interest override the Supremacy of the party with the court stepping in to direct it’s actions in ways that have left the party losing more States in recent elections.
The challenges of APC that has left dire consequences for the party have always arisen from the courts directive that exposes some error in the decision of the party in violation of it’s constitution. The party must learn from it’s past experiences in Zamfara, Beyelsa, Rivers, Cross River etc. Edo State today has began making same mistakes with many litigations.
Peace gives more stability to the party than the discisions of the court. It is failure of the party and it’s leadership if it does not address its issues using internal mechanisms of dispute resolution. It is shameful that the party is now towing the inglorious path of litigations by washing it’s dirty linens in the Court.
The the APC crisis has gone beyond Edo State and have built interest that may threaten the unity of the party and the reconcilation moves that set in after the Appeal Court gave a ruling to lift the suspension of Comrade Oshiomole as APC National Chairman.
Both Oshiomole and Obaseki must be reconciled because their open fight is not only threatening the party’s chances in Edo but also breeding another round of crisis and court actions that may affect the party at the National level.
The matter on the suspension of Comrade Oshomole is still in court, reconciliation will go a long way to calm tempers and stabilize the party. Both Oshiomole and Obaseki should be urgently invited to a round table discussion by the President.
It is not a must that Obaseki must be given the ticket, Ambode was denied ticket and the heavens did not fall. In the same way Oshiomole should also learn to loose some battles for politics is a give and take. Attempt by Oshiomole to win all battles has in most cases left him with many enemies in a way that the party’s stability is threatened.
