Ondo 2020: Engr. Ifeoluwa Oyedele denies Olusola Oke as Consensus Candidate

Engr. Ifeoluwa Oyedele denies Olusola Oke as Consensus Candidate

Engr. Ifeoluwa Oyedele, a governorship candidate under the Ondo APC Forum has denies being part of an announced consensus candidate palava, saying its a lie from “the pit of hell.”

Olusola Oke was on Monday, announced by Alhaji Ali Olanusi, as the consensus candidate to face Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu at the APC primaries slated for July, 2020.

“Gentlemen of the press, considering the mood of the state and continuous ban on political meetings and the fact that INEC has given its nod for electronic campaign, we hereby present to the public the long awaited report of the Ondo APC Unity Forum concerning its governorship aspirant for the 2020 governorship election in Ondo State, as presented by the Gubernatorial Candidate Selection Committee.”

“The Unity Forum, by the content of the report has adopted Chief Olusola Oke, SAN, as the candidate of the Forum. All the leaders and members of the Unity Forum are hereby enjoined to begin mobilization across the state for the candidate of the forum.”

Alhaji Ali Olanusi is the former Deputy Governor of Ondo State and leader of the Ondo APC Unity Forum, an umbrella body of aggrieved APC governorship aspirants and party stalwarts working against the re-election bid of Governor Akeredolu.

A consensus candidate was announced by Alhaji Ali Olanusi, who said that Engr. Ifeoluwa Oyedele and some other candidates has agreed to it – – it turns out that the candidate was not aware.

“In the light of the purported announcement of a consensus candidate for the Ondo APC Unity Forum by Alhaji Ali Olanusi and the subsequent claimed of his that our principal ; Engr. Ifeoluwa Oyedele unanimously “agreed’ with other aspirants to accept the candidate recommended by the screening committee set up by Ondo APC unity Forum, the Engr. Ifeoluwa Oyedele Independent campaign Network debunks the claims of Alhaji Ali Olanusi as nothing but lies from the pit of hell.”

In a statement through the Chairman, Ifeoluwa Independent campaign Network, Ralph Alabi, the candidate says he “was not a party to any meeting or decision process where it was agreed that a particular aspirant be announced as a consensus candidate of the Ondo APC Unity Forum as erroneously claimed by Alhaji Ali Olanusi.”

Also noting that “all aspirants are still discussing amongst themselves on the possibility of a consensus candidate putting it into perspective that the screening committee set up by Ondo APC unity Forum saddled with the responsibility of picking a consensus candidate for the group is currently enmeshed in corruption allegation which has made it difficult for the committee to conclude its assignment and present the report to the general meeting of the Unity forum.”

The statement continues, “The deliberate dropping of our principal’s name by Alhaji Ali Olanusi as as part of those aspirants that ‘agreed’ on the announcement of a particular aspirant as a consensus candidate of the Ondo APC Unity Forum was a deliberate attempt to score a cheap political popularity for the hasty, faulty and political blunder of the announcement of that particular aspirant as the consensus candidate and a devilish way to damage the reputation of our principal bearing it in mind that the screening committee had ceased to function.”

“Arising from the above , the Engr. Ifeoluwa Oyedele Independent Campaign Network dissociates our principal Engr. Ifeoluwa Oyedele from the hurriedly announcement of a consensus candidate for the Ondo APC Unity Forum by Alhaji Ali Olanusi. Also, we frown at the manner in which Alhaji Ali Olanusi has been dropping the name of our principal to justify his illegality and warn him to desist from such ignoble act, otherwise the group will not hesitate to sue him for deformation of character.”

Engr. Ifeoluwa Oyedele urge supporters to stand by him and continue to pray “for a new prosperous Ondo State”.
