Men of character are the conscience of the society to which they belong,” I had a wonderful moment grooming the Ambassadors on ethics and values this week…(#tuesdaythrowbacks)

Ethics and values are simply the concept of right and wrong what we uphold as human beings. Our ethics and Morals stems from our upbringing… Entrenching core values in a society must stem from the individual and an individual comes from a small organisation called the family… the base of any society… This begs the question, what are the core value system of a typical Nigerian?

The question is synonymous to what kind of family he comes from?

What is so important to them in that family?
The significance of any being is embodied in the family’s core values and what culture they uphold. One of my humble understanding of this concept which amazes me is finding two dissimilar families, from completely different religion and culture embodying the same value system in their homes… this is because, the concept of right or wrong is universal…it is in Honesty, in respect for the individual, in loving thy neighbours etc all of which translates into a character trait… It has become very pertinent as a nation to emphasize moral and ethical consciousness in our national affairs from education to politics and governance.

The lack of conscience and genuine patriotism, character, virtue and integrity has been the syndrome that undermined our progress and development over the years… So the big question now is what are we going to do about it? What steps are we taking individually to systemise this concept in our various tiny corners?

AGAIN, What are the core value system of a typical Nigerian?
