Kogi Assembly confirms Edward Onoja as Deputy Governor.

The Kogi State House of Assembly on Monday, 21st October, screened and confirmed Edward Onoja as Deputy Governor.

 

This confirmation was made during a plenary presided over by Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mathew Kolawole, on Monday.

During the Screening, the Deputy Governor-nominee introduced himself and gave a brief background of his work experience to the lawmakers.

 

The member representing Olamboro Constituency, moved a motion that the nominee be cleared because he had served the state as Chief of Staff to the incumbent governor, Yahaya Bello.

 

The motion was seconded by Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed, representing Ankpa 1 constituency, who said the Deputy Governor nominee was a committed party man who has contributed immensely to the success of Governor Yahaya Bello as Chief of Staff. He urged the assembly to confirm him as he is the best man for the job.

 

After several other deliberations by other members of the house, he was confirmed Deputy Governor of Kogi State.

 

Expressing his appreciation, Edward Onoja thanked the immediate past deputy governor of the state, Elder Simon Achuba, for making it possible for him to take over his sit.

 

“I want to thank immediate Past Deputy Gov for doing things that made it possible for me to be Deputy Gov today”.
