Liverpool join the race for Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze – – With the reported signing of Ibrahima Konate from Red Bull Leipzig now looking like a done deal for Liverpool, fans will be hoping it continues to be a busy summer for the Reds with some also hoping that another forward will be brought to Anfield. Another name recently linked with Liverpool is Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze.

Chukwueze has been previously linked with a move to Anfield, but Liverpool made the decision to sign Diogo Jota last October. Despite the signing of Jota, Liverpool are still in need of more back up and competition for the regular front three, especially now it looks like Divock Origi could be on the move this summer.

The Nigerian forward has so far spent his senior career at Villarreal, signing from their youth team in 2018. He has made 119 appearances for the La Liga side, scoring 17 times. Chukwueze has also made 19 appearances for Nigeria, an impressive stat for a 22 year-old and even won the national teams young player of the year award in 2018.

According to caughtoffside, various reports in Spain suggest the 22 year-old has spoken to a number of Premier League clubs regarding a potential move as well as other big name sides from around Europe.

Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea are all reported to be interested in the Nigerian’s signature and a source close to the player suggests the winger would move if the right opportunity came along, but also stressed the player is happy at Villarreal.

Chukwueze has a release clause of 80 million euros. This could be a massive road block when it comes to clubs such as Liverpool striking a potential deal as that price tag for a player of his age is quite steep.

The winger has played a major role in the Spanish sides season including helping them reach the Europa League final, where they will play Manchester United.
