Obinna Bright Ekwebelem was born on 29th January, 1980 into the family of Mr and Mrs. Obediah Chukwuemeka Ekwebelem of Ekwebelem Royal Dynasty Umumbo-Okwelle, Onuimo Council Area of Imo State.
He attended Eziukwu Primary School Aba in Abia State, at Ascension Junior Seminary
Umuebulungu Asa, where he started his secondary education which he completed at Community Secondary School Obote Ndoki.
Knowing where he was headed as a cerebral science inclined student, young Obinna sought and gained admission at the prestigious Imo State University Owerri to study Industrial Chemistry in the year 2000.
He graduated with Bachelor’s Degree B.Sc Honours in 2004. Obinna Bright Ekwebelem had his compulsory NYSC Programme in Kebbi State in 2005/2006, serving as quality control analyst at Saberg International Ltd.
The company was into Neem oil and fertilizer production.
Thereafter, the young chap established his own venture; Bestreck Computers Aba; an ICT firm that provided wide range of services to government and private organizations and individuals.
He later became the Chairman of ICT Company owners association in the entire Abia state.
Having made a mark in the ICT world, Ekwebelem sought to expand his business horizon thus setting up Bestreck Industries Ltd which is into food, beverages and paint production.
Obinna later founded a company; Obibrighto Integrated Services for drinks and food supply chain.
Obinna Bright Ekwebelem today sits on the Board of several blue chip companies, imparting his world and making his generation proud.
He is happily married with four children.
He is a member of following organizations; Owerri Club, Diamond 86 International Club, Anglican Christian Fathers Fellowship, Unique Friends Club among others.
Before his emergence as the Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for the November 11, 2023 Imo guber election, he was the South East Zonal Secretary of the party and a top member of SDP NEC.
