Ogun HoS Underscores Importance Of Leveraging ICT For Effective Service Delivery

Using Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government, has improved data storage and assisted in boosting capacities, fast-tracking processes, as well as eliminating stress associated with manual operations.

 

Ogun State Head of Service (HoS), Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun, stated this in Abeokuta, while delivering a goodwill message at a two-day Management Retreat for Directors, Deputies and Unit Heads, with the theme, “Leveraging Technology Communication and Enterprise Towards Enhanced Environmental Management and Revenue Generation”, organised by the Ministry of Environment, Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) and Ogun State Waste Management Authority (OGWAMA).

 

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Public Service Transformation, Mr. Jola Oyeneye, Mr. Fagbohun underscored the need for Civil and Public Servants in the state to continue to key into the new technological order to make operation processes in the Service seamless, faster and better, as his office was able to review the Public Service Rules and Financial Regulations, under one year, with aid the of technology.

He enjoined them to embrace the new technology initiative by the Prince Dapo Abiodun administration, for cutting-edge performance.

 

Delivering a lecture titled, “Roadmap and Organogram”, Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Ola Oresanya, reeled out a ten-point agenda as roadmap for the new year including, decentralization of services to various zones of the state, through the establishment of zonal offices, publication of Green Book to guide Environmental Governance in the state, enforcement of environmental laws, public awareness strategies, elimination of various form of environmental pollution, effective flood control mechanism and improved waste management system, among others.

Oresanya urged the management team to brace up for the new challenges, as the state government was determined to bequeath the state, a better environment before its inauguration, adding that changes were effected in its organogram to meet the set goals.

 

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Sam Oyeleye, tasked participants to harness potentials and identify variables in land, air and water in the sector, to enable them resolve challenges, improve their skills and encourage government to do more, reiterating that they were government representatives and must project themselves as such.

Two lectures on Managing Stress at Workplaces and Dynamics of Water Abstraction and Environment Governance in Ogun State, were delivered by Dr. Jameson Samuel and Prof. Adewole Gbadebo, as part of the retreat.

 

In their separate remarks, Director, Sand, Mining and Dredging, Mr. Kayode Akinwande and Director Hazardous Materials Management and Environmental Safety, Mrs Yemisi Osinaike, appreciated the organisers for the empowerment programme, saying it would go a long way to improve their working skills.
