Onyinye Omenugha makes Top 50 finalists for Global Student’s Prize

Nigerian Law School student, Ms Onyinye Omenugha has made the list of Top 50 finalists for a Global Student’s Prize.

 

The Chegg Global Student Prize was founded in collaboration with the Varkey Foundation to celebrate exceptional students, who are making real impact on learning the lives of their peers, and on society beyond. The Prize celebrates inspiring students worldwide who are actively reshaping the world for the better.

The Prize, a sister award to the Global Teacher Prize is open to all students who are at least 16 years old and enrolled in an academic institution or training and skills program.

 

Omenugha who was actively involved in extracurricular activities during her Law undergraduate studies at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, made the list of Top 50 Finalists for the Global Student Prize for the impact she is making in the lives of other students, and society through her organizations, LAWSANAID and Kate Centre for Arts and Creativity (KACAC).

She is the only student in Nigeria to make the list was recently celebrated for winning the Diana award, the most prestigious award for young people for humanitarian impact across the globe.

Earlier in July, 2023, Onyinye Omenugha, 24, received the prestigious 2023 Diana Awards. This global recognition is granted to exceptional young people in the UK and beyond.

Onyinye was also honored for her NGO, LAWSANAID, which supports law students with disabilities in accessing inclusive and quality education. Her inspiring work has touched the lives of many young Nigerians, reflecting her industrious spirit.

 

During a LAWSANAID FAMILY WEEKEND, Onyinye Omenugha spoke on exploring possibilities for a law student beyond the classroom. She told the members of the community that it would be beneficial for them to incorporate reading random books, participating in competitions, listening to inspiring podcasts and optimizing social media for growth.

Also, she drew their attention to certain global opportunities as well as tips on how to access them. She ended the session with a crucial question and asked the group to reflect on these words: What am I doing to make the world a better place?
