PRESS BRIEFING OF THE AUTHENTIC ELECTORAL BOARD OF THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF AKWA IBOM STATE STUDENTS (NAAKISS-WORLDWIDE), 16TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER 2019.
Gentlemen of the Press,
It should be recalled that on the 21st of September 2018, at the instance of the then Commissioner of Education, Prof. Victor Bassey Inoka who is currently the Commissioner of Economic Development, the then Special Assistance to the Governor on Students Affairs, Comr. Otobong Aquila Akpan, the NAAKISS Desk officer at the State Ministry of Education, High Chief Selong Selong, the National Leadership of NAAKISS worldwide as well as Council of NAAKISS chapter presidents, host of Students Community, the DSS Students Desk Officer, the Students Desk officer from the State Police Headquarter, Ikot Akpan Abia and the Press gathered at the Conference Hall of the State Ministry of Education in what is otherwise known as the National Congress of NAAKISS worldwide, pursuant to Section 91(15) of the NAAKISS worldwide Constitution.
It should also be recalled that on the floor of the said National Congress before the above mentioned attendees as witnesses and participants, the authentic Electoral Board of NAAKISS worldwide was constituted and ratified. The electoral committee was led by Comr. Aniebiet Udoekpo of university of Uyo as Chairman and Comr. Nathaniel Ukpoho of University of Calabar as Secretary.
It is important to note that as an Electoral board, duly formed on the floor of the National Congress, in the presence of all stakeholders, we had as part of our transition process,freely distributed and processed nomination forms to over 23 Students who indicated interest to aspire for different offices in NAAKISS worldwide. It was at this point that we received advice from the then Commissioner of Education, Prof. Victor Inoka to suspend all electoral processes of NAAKISS worldwide until the 2019 General Election was over. According to him, the students attention should not be divided because of NAAKISS worldwide elections, rather, the students should team up to support His Excellency, Gov. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel’s re-election bid since he is the grand patron of Naakiss worldwide. This advice was adhered to strictly and we obliged without any ranchor.
Within June this year, we had an information of how one Comr. Aniefiok Edet who is a PERSONA NON GRATA in the Association snicked into the State Ministry of Education in a company of six (6) boys and took pictures thereafter, wrote on facebook that he has formed a new Electoral board of NAAKISS worldwide, that the Electoral board chairman is one Comr. Koffi Solomon while the Secretary is a certain Comr. Ubokobong who has been on the run since he was caught red handed, leading a cult group that killed a Student of Uniuyo in a broad daylight at the University of Uyo Annex of which investigation is still ongoing at the State Police Headquarters.
It is on this note that we therefore resolved as follows;
(1) That the public should be aware that NAAKISS worldwide has only one authentic Electoral Board which is the Electoral board led by Comr. Aniebiet Udoekpo which was duly formed on the floor of the National Congress of 21st September 2018.
(2) That an imposter known as Comr. Koffi Solomon erroneously and mischievously parading himself as the electoral board chairman of NAAKISS worldwide is a STRANGER to NAAKISS-WORLDWIDE Constitution, as such we give him one week to refund all the money or monies fraudulently collected from innocent and unsuspecting Akwa Ibom State Students or else be prepared to face the unmitigated force of litigation.
(3) That we draw the attention of the State Ministry of Education to this fraudulent act of Comr. Koffi Solomon, while advising the Leadership of Ministry and the general public to dissociate themselves from the criminal activities of Comr. Koffi Solomon as this document will serve as a testament of our position on this case before a competent Court of Law.
(4) Consequent upon the foregoing, we wish to reassure the Students community that the list of all the contestants will be duly published as well as the date for security screening before the week runs out.
(5) That it should be noted that the nomination forms are free and Not to be sold. Those intended aspirants who were not privileged to pick the nomination forms to contest by reason of lack of money etc, now have five (5) days window of grace to collect the nomination forms from either the Electoral board Committee or Chapter Presidents as we donot intend to disenfranchise any authentic Student of Akwa Ibom State Origin the privilege to contest.
(6) That by this notice, the Students community in Akwa Ibom State and the general public should be aware that the official Electoral Transitional Programs of NAAKISS worldwide led by this noble Electoral board as set up on the floor of the National Congress at the Conference Hall of the State Ministry of Education has begun full swing, we therefore solicit for supports from the Grand Patron of NAAKISS worldwide, His Excellency, Gov. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel and other relevant constituted authorities as we promise a free, fair and credible Elections for NAAKISS worldwide.
