Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, known professionally as Ayra Starr, is a Beninese-born Nigerian singer. She began a fashion career at the age of 16 with Quove Model Management before deciding to pursue a career in music.

 

Her Full Name Is Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibegbe. She was born on 19th June 2002. She Hails from Kwara State Nigeria. She grew up in Cotonou, Lagos & Abuja respectively – Half of her childhood was in Cotonou.

 

She got into Les Cours Sonou university Cotonou at 14 and studied international relations and political science and graduated at age 18. She started writing songs at age 10 with her brother damilare PKA Milar and they still write songs together till today.

 

She uploaded her first original song online called “damage”, this brought her attention to the record executive DON JAZZY, which led to her being signed into Marvin Records.
She’s the third(3) female artist to join marvin records after Tiwa Savage & Di’ja.

 

She never went for any musical or vocal training she did all her training through YouTube. She has 4 Siblings and a single mom – probably why she hates men.
Ayra is a spiritual babe who talks about God, Her name “Celestial being” relates to that and she also gets spiritual inspiration to write her songs.

 

She wrote the song “Beggie Beggie” in a bus. Some beggars passed by her and the word “Bambiala” gave her the inspiration to start writing the song and she completed it with her younger brother when she got home.

In October 2023, Ayra Starr recounted how she used to sell vegetables and fruits with her grandmother.

Taking to her Instagram story, the ‘Rush’ crooner said she was grateful for her progress.

She said that she often sings for customers who patronise her business.

 

Ayra Starr wrote, “[I] Will forever be grateful for where I am in life. God really blessed me.

“6 years ago, this used to be me selling vegetables and fruits with my grandma, singing for whoever wanted to hear me. Now people are paying to watch me perform.”
