White Paper: Direct Security agents to investigate, prosecute forgery scandal on Alawo - Rights group tells Adeleke

The dust raised by the recent White Paper released by Osun State Government under the watch of Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke on the Chieftaincy Panel report and recommendations in penultimate weeks, was yet to be settled.

A human rights organization, the Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ) has called on Governor Adeleke to direct the security agents to conduct thorough, credible and unbiased investigation into the alleged forgery scandal of no fewer than nine (9) documents/minutes leveled against Appeal Court deposed new Alawo, Mr. Taiwo Abdulrasaq Adegboye.

It insisted that all the processes leading to the illegal appointment and subsequent installation of deposed Adegboye as new Alawo by the State Government was based on forgery scandal and something could not stand on nothing, adding that any house built on falsehood would definitely collapse.

The rights group stated that the call was becoming imperative on Governor Adeleke in order to free his government from perception of harbouring an alleged Documents and Certificates forger on Alawo Chieftaincy Stool, Mr. Taiwo Abdulrasaq Adegboye, saying that it has shown clearly that Taiwo Adegboye had failed an integrity test of occupying such an exalted position in our society, particularly,in respect of Alawo Stool with enormous allegation of forgery documents and minutes during the selection process to outsmart the second contender for the stool, in person Comrade (Prince) Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman.

However, the group urged the State Government to make more clarifications on the position of the recently released White Paper Gazetted recommendations concerning Alawo Chieftaincy Stool, whether the impostor on the Stool, Mr. Taiwo Abdulrasaq Adegboye should be parading himself as new Alawo in flagrant disobedience to Appeal Court Judgement that removed, deposed, dethroned and sacked him from the Stool he occupied with forgery of documents illegally.

CHRSJ, based its clarification request on the same White Paper recommendation position on Akinrun Chieftaincy Stool where another impostor, Mr. Akadiri claimed to be won a case in his favour on questionably manner at the Osun State High Court of Ikirun Judicial Division and the White Paper recommendation which banned the said impostor on Akinrun Chieftaincy Stool not to parade himself as new Akinrun of Ikirun by urging all the parties to wait for the outcome of the matter before the Court of Appeal in Akure Judicial Division.

While the State Government in the same White Paper not make it clear whether the impostor Taiwo Adegboye above the Appeal Court Judgement that dethroned him(Adegboye) than impostor Akinrun Akadiri that had the High Court Judgement that recognized him as a monarch of the ancient town of Ikirun.

Submitting an Open Letter dated 23rd January,2024 and signed by the CHRSJ’S Assistant General Secretary (AGS), Pastor Michael Agassi to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Alawo Chieftaincy Stool and copies were made available to newsmen on Friday, maintaining that there can never be peace without justice, insisting that making double standard position on the same issue affecting the Chieftaincy Stools as contained in a White Paper released by Adeleke’s government, was a signal of double standard on the part of Osun State Government headed by Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Pastor Agassi noted that Ademola Adeleke’s administration had thwarted an opportunity to right the wrong he claimed, intending to right on the Chieftaincy Stool when he came to power as Governor of the State on November 27th, 2022, noting that “what is good for the gander must also good for the goose” in respect of Alawo Chieftaincy and Akinrun Chieftaincy Stools.

While saluting the courage of Governor Adeleke to develop political Will upon the pressure from within and outside the State to release the much awaited White Paper on the Chieftaincy Panel report with double standard recommendations, Agassi maintained that Governor Adeleke still has time to correct the erroneous error of clearing Taiwo Adegboye to be parading himself as new Alawo in flagrant disobedience to Appeal Court Judgement that dethroned, removed, sacked and deposed Adegboye from the Stool of Alawo.

The Cleric cum human rights activist urged Governor Adeleke to write Taiwo Adegboye to vacate the Alawo Chieftaincy stool forthwith as contained in the Appeal Court Judgement dated 8th day of August,2022, pending the outcome of the Supreme Court of Nigeria on the subject matter by making it public of obedience to rule of law and Constitution.

Stating that removal of Adegboye in obedience to Appeal Court Judgement, would give room to the security agents to conduct thorough, credible and unbiased investigation and probe into the allegation of forgery scandal leveled against deposed Adegboye in respect of Alawo Chieftaincy Stool.

According to the said Open Letter; ” It is very cleared that Mr. Taiwo Abdulrasaq Adegboye was not covered by any immunity as stipulated in the section 308 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended and also, no civil litigation stopped criminal investigation and prosecution against Taiwo Adegboye alleges of criminal conduct in the Nigeria laws and that is the reason why the life span of the criminal action is unlimited in our legal society.

“In view of the above, the human rights organization,Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ), is using this opportunity to write your humble office and to call for thorough, credible and unbiased public investigation into the alleged forgery of no fewer than nine (9) Documents/Selection Minutes attached to the Expression of Interest Form Number:000000114, belonging to an impostor on Alawo Stool, Mr. Taiwo Abdulrasaq Adegboye since the midnight of 13th day of September, 2021.

“Deduced from the above analysis on the subject matter, it is cleared that all the processes that led to the purported appointment and illegal installation of Taiwo Abdulrasaq Adegboye as new Alawo on the midnight of 13th of September, 2021 by the Osun State Government, was faulty as due process was not followed, hence, Taiwo Adegboye was a product of fraudulent process, flagrant disobedience to Court Orders and judgement, falsification of age, identity theft of educational certificates, perjury, fake and forged selection documents with obsolete and revoked Law and therefore, should not be allowed to hold the office of Alawo of Awo, Osun State, Nigeria”.

The Letter further read thus; “The position of the State Government is yet to be cleared to the parties and people concern, particularly, the good people of ancient town of Awo in Egbedore Local Government area of Osun State. Present Adeleke Government needs to come out clearer whether It has given effect to the Appeal Court Judgement either to obey or disobey because people need to give benefit of doubt to the State Government on the subject matter.

The White Paper Gazetted report released made it clear that the “Status Quo” should be observed to the Letter on Akinrun of Ikirun Chieftaincy Stool by all and sundry because the matter on the Stool still pending before the Court of Appeal and embattled Akinrun Akadiri could not parade himself as new Akinrun despite having High Court Judgement in his favour but we want the State Government under Governor Ademola Adeleke to make it clear on that of Alawo Chieftaincy Stool which Appeal Court had given judgement that dethroned impostor Taiwo Abdulrasaq Adegboye and the Appeal still pending before the Supreme Court of Nigeria on the subject matter.

” It is expectation of all and sundry within and outside the State that Osun State Government under your watch presently, would write the impostor, Mr. Taiwo Abdulrasaq Adegboye to vacate the Stool forthwith in consonance with the said White Paper Gazette and in upholding the Nigeria Constitution in line with the Appeal Court Judgement dated 8th day of August,2022.

“We are calling on Governor Ademola Adeleke to obey the Appeal Court Judgement by giving effect to the Judgement without further delaying as enshrined in the Section 187(2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, which he Sworn to uphold and defend while taken the Oath of Office”, CHRSJ submitted.
