British-Nigerian media personality, Julie Adenuga has recounted how her boyfriend broke up with her for contracting COVID-19.

She said she informed her partner after testing positive for the virus and he called her that same evening to break up with her while she was lying sick.

The North London-born radio host spoke in a recent episode of the Madame Joyce podcast.

She said, “I was in a relationship for a long time where I knew it wasn’t the right one but I thought it might be the best I am going to get. So, I decided to keep it going for as long as possible.

“I got COVID-19 and the day that I found out I had COVID-19, my boyfriend broke up with me. I was mad that day. I sent him a picture of my test result. And that evening, he called me that he was breaking up with me.”

Julie Adenuga is a fun, multi-talented, effortlessly cool tastemaker. And an overall good egg. She’s undoubtedly one of the UK’s most influential voices for today’s generation, and her talents have been expanded across various sectors where time and time again she has proved that entrepreneurship is her forte. When flicking through her online resume, it’s hard not to get a little jealous of some of her biggest accomplishments.

Originally gaining attention as a presenter on Rinse FM, Julie later shifted to Apple Music’s Beats 1 where she hosted her own show and interviewed a whole bunch of hefty talent from Cardi B, to Billie Eilish, and Summer Walker.

“I think there’s a big massive gap to what a successful career can look like if you work in entertainment. Whether you are anything from an influencer to an actor, to an artist, whatever it is, I’d like to set a bar for what that looks like. Especially for British people.” She said December 2023 to Principle Magazine.

”The goal is to have a really, really flourishing, happy, joyful, personal life that people are not a part of. And it’s not that you keep it a secret, but it’s also you don’t flaunt it but you have a personality, and you’re not boring, but you’re not overexposing yourself to the point that you are your product. It’s kind of like how Beyonce lives, but not as closed off. You don’t need to give everybody everything to make it. It’s okay.”
