Below are the achievements of EDO STATE PUBLIC SERVICE under the leadership of Governor Godwin Obaseki.

1. Best paid Public Service in Nigeria. 40k minimum wage. Federal and State Governments pay 30k.

1. Edo State is the only State Government in Nigeria to have approved promotions for 2022. No other State in the federation has done so.

1. Edo State is about the only State in Nigeria today doing employment. We have brought in over 250 freshers this year. Currently, we have an advert running to bring nearly 600 new workers into the PHC. No other State comes close.

1. In 2022 alone, Edo State employed over 4000 workers mostly teachers. No other State did half that number. Where others say there is a casting down, we say there is a lifting up.

1. Edo State has one of the best work place environments in the whole country. Check out our Secretariat buildings. It’s about the best in this country. Only the Federal Secretariat probably compares with it. It is equipped with state -of -the- art work equipment.

1. Continuos infrastructure development in the Public Service. Agric hub is nearing completion. The foundation for the Education hub has been laid. Will be completed within one year.

1. Edo State Public Service is the most digitalized Public Service in Nigeria. All its MDAs on- boarded on Edo Gov digital platform. No other State had achieved that. Edo Gov 1.0 completed. It is now 2.0. Also Government just signed a contract to extend its cyber optics across all the Local Government Areas of Edo State. Edo is the first State in Nigeria to achieve this.

1. Fairest and most inclusive employment process in any public service in Nigeria. For the first time in the history of Edo, no interference by the Governor with the employment process. The Governor has not recommended a single person for employment. Employment process completely merit -driven.

1. Edo State is the only State with a standing executive directive of automatic appointment for the best graduating students of Edo origin in all Universities across Nigeria. We are currently in the process of bringing in 15 first class Graduates from the Edo University Iyamho. We have brought into the state public service more than 20 first class graduates since 2021 as against just 4 we had then.

1. Regular and prompt payment of salaries. Since this administration came on board, salaries of workers have not been paid later than 26th of every month. Even during covid 19 when some States could no longer pay full salaries and had to enter into gentleman’s agreement with their workers to pay only a part of their monthly salaries, Edo State never defaulted even for once.

1. DTAs. Edo is the first state in recent times to review DTAs payable to Public Servants across the board. Edo reviewed DTAs before the Federal Government thought about it. In some cases, the increase was by as much as 33 percent.

1. Edo State has one of the best intellectual property resource development centres in any Public Service in Nigeria today. Infrastructure is superb and continues to be developed. We have developed a training calendar for 2023 the first of its kind in Edo State. 10,000 Public Servants to be trained in 2022. History in the making.

1. This administration reduced the number of years constituting the wait period for promotion from GL 16 to 17 from 5 years to 4 years.

1. This administration cleared years of arrears of promotion for public servants. Govt also withdrew the circular prohibiting promotion after retirement for being an unfair attempt to disentitle workers from their right to promotion.

1. Edo Health Insurance Scheme which has significantly assisted Public Servants in achieving affordable health care. I don’t know how many States have such schemes.

1. Contributory Pensions Scheme. Edo State has solved the problem of gratuity for its workers for ever. Edo has consistently and without fail paid its counterpart funds for the CPS since Jan 1, 2023. Some other States have never paid.

1. Life insurance. All workers in Edo who are in the CPS are life insured. This has seen to the payment of several millions in death benefits to the families of our dead workers.

Edo State is not in arrears of payment of premium.

1. From a transactional service to a strategic and professionalised service. New and improved performance management system.

New Public Service rules almost completed.

Culture analysis by Hofstede completed. Review of organograms completed. Placement of right staff in right places completed.
