BLACKMAIL AND INTIMIDATION WILL DESTROY LAGOS PDP

Akanji Nurudeen Akorede: About my visit to Engineer Adedeji Doherty

STOP THE BLACKMAIL AND INTIMIDATION NOW IT WILL DESTROY LAGOS PDP!

It is very sad that the state of affairs of the Lagos State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party has deteriorated to this stage. Our affairs are being hijacked by power-hungry individuals whose main objective is to destroy what is left of the party. There is a serious threat to the life and political careers of many leaders of the party and Chief Olabode Goerge and Governor Makinde should be held responsible.

Whereas the members of the party are preparing for congresses as since with the rigorous campaign going on by several candidates across the state vying for various elective State Executive positions the ignoble and desperate tendencies of the duo will finally bury the State Chapter if urgent steps are not taken by the National Working Committee.

BLACKMAIL AND INTIMIDATION WILL DESTROY LAGOS PDP
BLACKMAIL AND INTIMIDATION WILL DESTROY LAGOS PDP
  1. The deliberate change of date from the 19th of February to the 23rd is in a bid for the conspirators against the will of the masses Lagos PDP to further perfect their evil. In much amazement, the venue of the congress which is the Nigeria Police College seems very strange and one wonders why they want to drag the law enforcement agencies into party congress. Is this because of the high connections the Lagos Chief has with the Oba of Lagos? There are other locations like Yard 38, Sky power ground, and even Tafawa Balewa Square and it is unacceptable that an event that held in the College on the same date as our party congress is enough reason to delay the destiny of party members.

  1. The bait our Governor has also deployed is by claiming to Lagos leaders that he does not have the required funds to organize the congress the State Caretaker Committee requires to conduct the primaries, hence his preference of Harmonization. But it is pertinent to advise the Governor to channel the bribery funds into organizing a successful congress to also be counted on the side of history and the masses of Lagos PDP who and tired of the treacherous acts of our Lagos Chief and his cohorts.

  1. It is an unfortunate occurrence that a sitting Governor would leave his State to outrightly meddle with the affairs of another state chapter to the extent that our Governor has started bribing other contestants for different positions to step down for the preferred candidates of Chief Olabode Goerge across the board. By offering some aspirants juicy positions in Oyo State, our dear Governor is frantically perfecting the plans of our Lagos Chief to sell Lagos PDP to the opposition as usual. He has stooped so low to threaten our flagship leaders that he will work against their aspirations, careers, and re-election bid if they do not support harmonization. Our Governor has openly boasted within his inner circle and with his co-conspirators in Lagos PDP that anyone that does not support his plans for Harmonization will be politically finished in Lagos PDP. He intends to use his control of the Southwest structure to hold the entire State machinery to ransom. All the Southwest Exco including Rahmon Owokoniran and Segun Adewale amongst others have been recruited to circumvent the aspirations of other members not in their camp ahead of the 2023 election.

  1. The National body of this great party needs to stand firm and take full responsibility for the proposed congress which is their statutory role rather than welcome excuses from the Governor. If Governor Makinde does not have funds as he claims, the National headquarters should assume its supervisory role over Lagos State as spelled out in our constitution. It is pathetic that the affairs of Lagos PDP have been dumped on the Governor who has shown all that he is now a factional leader rather than being a leader to all. The Caretaker Committee should immediately request funds from the National body to conduct the coming congress. As a leader, our Governor should wait until after the congress to reconcile all members to gear us to victory rather than create a more divided house.
Our Governor should please take a toll on Governor Wike who visited Plateau State and was able to amicably settle the crisis thereby calling all groups to the round table. We recall that the Lagos stakeholders meeting was more of a meeting with one faction but for a few names. Should Lagos PDP be left in Governor Makinde’s hand? Our Governor has shown a great level of bias. We all see how undemocratic he is!

  1. The reason for the control of the party by our Chief is to frustrate the ambition of thousands of members who are not in his camp, including the serving Reps. We recollect previous years when a puppet State Chairmen he produced replaced names at will and supported candidates who absconded with party funds. We recall allies of the Chief who collect election funds and absconded. It is total control they are after otherwise why would Rahmon Owokoniran nominate an already inaugurated KOSOFE LGA WOMAN Leader Mrs Salaudeen Nofisat Olateju to the post of the State Woman leader. Obviously, absolute power corrupts absolutely, and yet they fail to remember that the transient nature of power is not anybody’s birth.

THIS IS A CALL ON THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, NATIONAL WORKING COMMITTEE, NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE, AND PDP GOVERNORS FORUM TO PLEASE RESCUE LAGOS PDP!
