Cops arrested a glamorous suspected drug trafficker – only for it to emerge she was sleeping with their captain.

The Metropolitan Police in Barranquilla, Colombia, arrested Michellys Lorena Marino Restrepo following a raid in the city’s San José neighbourhood. The operation reportedly came following an order from the National Police, and was assigned to the Sabanalarga Police Station.

Roughly 2kg of cocaine, a revolver with six cartridges, a vehicle and three mobile phones were seized. Marino Restrepo is now facing charges related to the manufacturing, trafficking and carrying of both drugs and firearms.

During the investigation it emerged Marino Restrepo was in a relationship with Captain Leandro Aldemar Ureña Polo – the man in charge of the Sabanalarga Police Station.

Thus far there has been no indication that Ureña Polo was directly involved in his girlfriend’s alleged crimes. It has been reported that he remained at the police station while the raid was conducted – and this has “raised questions” according to local news outlet Alertas Mundial.

General William Salamanca, head of Colombia’s National Police, has implemented a purge of officers in the country in recent months. This has seen the number arrested for corruption skyrocket.

He said: “That is a commitment of all of us, of the general director, of the Corps of Generals, because we are interested in having an institution much closer to the community, but reliable, and in this task we have captured 510 police officers, a figure of 25% more compared to the previous year… We do not tolerate any hint of corruption in the institution.”

Investigations are continuing into the relationship between Ureña Polo and Marino Restrepo.

This comes after the wife of the world’s most wanted drug lord was sentenced to five years in prison over a dodgy car washing business.

Rosalinda González Valencia, known as ‘La Jefa’, is married to Nemesio ‘El Mencho’ Oseguera Cervantes – leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), considered the most dangerous drug trafficking organisation in Mexico.

Rosalinda was arrested in Guadalajara, Mexico, in November 2021 and charged with laundering money for her hubby’s gang. A judge ruled that she hid financial transactions between 2015 and 2016, related to the car wash she owned in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco.
