A 15-year-old boy was murdered on Saturday, after the family allegedly failed to contact the kidnappers to pay the ransom they had demanded.
The body was found at a sugar cane field in the adjoining Ghel village.
Jaspal Singh, uncle of the victim, identified as Sahil, said the night before, at 7.30 pm, the boy was sitting outside his house in Duffehra village.
At 7.55 pm, his grandfather got a call from the phone of Sahil, and the speaker told him that they had kidnapped the boy and demanded Rs 2 lakh by 9 am the next day. When they redialed the number, the phone was switched off.
They briefed the village sarpanch. A complaint was lodged at 10.30 pm. The next day, at 11 am, the police got a call from a farmer of Ghel village that a body of a boy was found in his sugar cane field.
