The immediate past Chairman of Nigeria Bar Association NBA Olumide Akpata today joined the Labour Party at his ward in Edo state.
As the Edo 2024 Governorship Election draws near, there has been a significant development in the political landscape.
This is after Peter Obi and Aisha Yesufu urged well meaning Nigerians to join the Labour Party in order to fix Nigeria for all.
Aisha Yesufu, has asked Nigerians to join the Labour Party (LP) and clean up the politics of Nigeria.
She made this known in a tweet on Saturday while reacting to a comment made by the LP presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on a Twitter space titled #PeterObiOnParallelFacts which was organised by The Parallel Facts.
Yesufu called on Nigerians to join the opposition party and give Nigeria a party that produces the best candidates that can give Nigeria good governance, accountability and transparency.
She wrote: “You heard it from Peter Gregory Obi @PeterObi himself. It is time to join the Labour Party and give Nigeria a party that produces the best candidates that can give Nigeria good governance, accountability and transparency.
“Let’s clean up the politics of Nigeria.”
In the recently circulated photo on Twitter by @mamarolex, Olumide Akpata can be seen proudly holding the Labour Party’s membership card, signifying his formal association with the party. This move has sparked discussions among the public, as Akpata’s involvement in the political arena has been highly anticipated following his notable tenure as the head of the NBA.
The post reads, “See who came to join @NgLabour the formal president of the BAR association of Nigeria, Mr Olumide Akpata! @OlumideAkpata”.
With Akpata’s entry into the Labour Party, speculations about his potential political aspirations have intensified.
As a highly regarded legal professional with a wealth of experience, his decision to join the political fold has piqued the interest of many, who eagerly await further announcements or declarations regarding his future plans.
