Chioma Okata, otherwise known as “Chef Chianny” clenched the grand prize worth N500, 000 (Five Hundred Thousand Naira), a position contested by thousands of Nigerian students accross states, making her Miss Foodie; while Abidoye Gbenga, otherwise known as “Chef Harmony” stood as 1st runner up, making him the Mr Foodie for 2021.

Chef Chianny wants “To promote my personal brand as well as Foodie Nigeria, help malnutritioned children, educate people more on the right Food consumption, as well as generally promote the hospitality industry” accross Nigeria, while Chef Harmony wants to “promote entrepreneurship through healthy cooking.”

 

  • Chef Matthew, Okanlawon Matthew Feranmi from Ogun state is 2nd runner up
  • Chef Victor, Akintayo Olaoluwa Victor from Oyo state is 3rd runner up while
  • Chef Chi, Dike Grace Chidinma from Edo state stood 4th runner up

The #1 National Cooking Competition in Nigeria, managed by Tiamiyu Adesewa, a Mass Communication graduate of YABATECH aims to “build prominent entrepreneurship in cooking business which will directly give back to the Government.”

 

According to the C.E.O of iHouse, Oseni Oluwasegun, Mr and Miss Foodie Nigeria Cooking Contest aims at “rebuilding the image of our country Nigeria by engaging the mind of the youths positively.”

 

“Already we have join the battle to help build a healthy family by encouraging homemade food through these youths, improve their contemporary cooking skills and emotional intelligence competences to keep them ahead of their peers.

Moreover, cooking have always been my thing, as well as other things. But for the fun of it, I just love watching people cook good food.”

The event, in partnership with RAVE TV; hosted by Christopher Morris of Super Screen Tv; was attended by highly respected dignitaries and in respect to Covid social distancing rule was proudly supported by MR Trills, Young Minds Entertainment, Tuns Touch, Krefit World Nigeria Limited, African Boy Empire and Gbetu Tv.

 

While the judges were Mrs Gina Ehikodi Ojo, Producer, Foodies and Species (Lead Judge); Mrs Adebola Ekpo, CEO, Krefit World Nigeria Limited (a food trainer); and Miss Hope Odabi, CEO, Elitefood hub & Dabimedia.

About Foodie Nigeria

Foodie Nigeria is a cooking contest initiated in 2016 to build healthy cooking and eating habit, orientate, and engage the youths on homemade foods across campuses in Nigeria. The contest targets youths (male/female)in Nigerian below the age of 40 years.

 

The aim is to discover, improve and reward the best cooking talents in Nigeria, by giving them a platform to unleash their latent ability and making cooking to be a hobby and also to assist the students and youths at large to discover the presumed hidden treasure (cooking skills) and inspire them towards the acquisition of self-efficacy.
