On Daniel Bwala’s return to APC

You can’t arrive at a real political outcome or prediction, through emotional attachments.

Before the Presidential Election of last year, Daniel Bwala was a member of APC. There were many conversations around how the APC would produce a Southeast candidate. In fact, I joined him in some occasions to look at the possibility of APC having Southeast Presidential Candidate. Then, we agreed that the first step would be for APC to resolve in having a Southern candidate. From there, it can be micro-zoned to the Southeast. We both shared in this ideal, as it then was.

Well, after the emergence of Asiwaju as APC Candidate, Bwala had thought that somehow, because of the popular notion that “North would vote North,” therefore, Atiku Abubakar would beat Asiwaju. It was this that led him into leaving the APC and joining the PDP where he became Atiku’s Spokesman. Bwala then blamed his decision to leave, on APC’s all Muslim ticket. An issue that is clearly not a serious consideration in any honest analysis.

After all said and done, Daniel Bwala, a brilliant man by the way, did his best for Atiku. But his best was not enough, as Atiku wouldn’t have defeated Asiwaju because of the Labour Party assault on one of PDP’s major strongholds. He must have taken a long look at his poor decisions and calculations and resolved to take his words back by returning to the APC and supporting President Tinubu.

So, why this is your business is because, you must be circumspect in your politics. Interests are not cast on stones, instead, they are dynamic. Like the Latin maxim said, time changes, and we change with it.

Be circumspect in all your political activities. You might need to join forces with your former opponent sooner than later.
