Roar against Seyi Makinde over proposed Lautech name change is sheer noise

The roar against Seyi Makinde over proposed Lautech name change is sheer noise in the market!!!

I have noted with an amusing displeasure the subtle blackmail and clandestine campaign of calumny against the person of His Excellency, Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde and his government by some overzealous characters in the cabinet of the Governor of Osun State, Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola over the rightful bid of the Oyo State Governor to slightly alter the nomenclature of our prestigious alma mata, the Lautech to conform with her transformative conventional identity. In my preliminary reaction, I like to describe the anti good elements from Osun State as the proverbial dead fellows who refused to learn the standard culture of closing the eyes, literarily meaning Awon Aku Momo Oju Dii…

For God’s sake where is sense in the empty campaign of challenging a new owner from making his purchased investment ornamental? Seyi Makinde did not lure Oyetola to sell Lautech to him. Rather the current Osun State Governor acted prodigally due to his insatiable appetite for money at all cost to sell our inheritance and a prudent Seyi Makinde converted the advantage to the future of Oyo State by giving Oyetola porridge. It is only shamelessness that will inform the misplaced affront of some of the cabinet members of Oyetola to want to stampede the Governor of Oyo State over Lautech renaming even when the Osun State government is yet to deem it fit to explain to the people of Osun State that she has sold off Lautech and has been getting the ransom in batches.

The rather unfortunate lesser and inferior status our Osun students have been soaked in does not bother the APC, but the rightful attempt of change of name of Lautech. I have on good authority and evidential complaints in multiples by Osun indigenous parents whose wards are seeking admission into Lautech after Oyetola sold us out, that their children are getting denied despite passing and those applicants of Oyo nativity who did not pass better are already undergraduates. This is the fate that Oyetola has compelled on Osun State unlike before that we enjoyed equal right with Oyo on the joint ownership of Lautech during our times. This should bother Oyetola’s overzealous commissioners trying to fight a proxy war against Governor Seyi Makinde more than the fight for renaming!

With just the freewill to be responsible, Governor Oyetola could have changed the tide when he sold Lautech with not more than #2 billion since our monthly commitment was not more than #700 million and we had only 6 months to service in a year. Instead the Mr Governor toed the path of “awoof” and they have not explained what they have used the bonus accruals from Oyo State for since Lautech was sold.

I am aware that our national Alumni association is getting prepared to summon an emergency meeting. My counsel is that they must exhibit decency by allowing the investor to do whatever he chooses on his new investment. What if Seyi Makinde had sold Lautech, will Oyo State debar the private acquirer from taking firm control on his acquisition?

I am a bonafide product of Lautech and in my time well over a decade ago after my graduation, I was a prominent stakeholder on the campus in my capacity as Head of SUG who also doubled as presiding officer in the hallowed chamber of the SRC. I can not therefore watch while good effort is being on the course of getting rubbished due to infantile politics by government’s cabinet members in Osun State. Should I get convinced that these prodigals are in the background fuelling acrimony, I elect to lead a competent campaign in support of Governor Seyi Makinde and Oyo State Government over their discretion on Lautech as the new sole owner. If the Osun State Government is in love with the Lautech name, the ball is in her court to rename her own nascent university.
This service to humanity will be on probono basis and I believe I am in good stead to fight in the dignity of this struggle being a stakeholder who hails from Osun State where the trouble shooters are firing from. Base on the foregoing, I call the notice of the Oyo State PDP publicity secretary and my fellow alumnus Akeem Olatunji to this notification for an onward passage to His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde.
