Sasha Calle Replaced As Supergirl

In a blaze of glory, Sasha Calle made her impressive debut in the DCEU with last summer’s underperforming title, The Flash. But now, according to insider Daniel Richtman (as per GeekTyrant), she’s stepping down from her Supergirl role and being replaced.

According to the scoop, James Gunn plans to introduce at least one more character to his upcoming feature, Superman: Legacy, with rumors swirling that it will be Supergirl.

It won’t be Sasha Calle’s caped hero that audiences are expected to see, but will instead be the newest member of the team and the actress who will lead the film Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

While nothing is confirmed, it would make complete sense for Gunn to introduce the character in this way before dropping her into her standalone film.

Just as he’s resetting the DC with David Corenswet as Clark Kent aka Superman, the filmmaker will likely be turning his back on other characters previously cast in the last iteration of DC. Supergirl is anticipated to be included in that mix, but again it won’t be Sasha Calle.

According to Giantfreekinrobot, the film will also feature performances from Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, and Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt/Mr. Terrific.

Plus, there is Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, and María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica aka The Engineer.

Sasha Calle appeared as Supergirl alongside Ezra Miller and Michael Keaton, who played The Flash and Batman, respectively, in one of DC’s latest films, The Flash.

Expected to be the saving grace of the studio, which has had a heavy decline in ticket sales over the last few years, the film was anything but. It performed to low viewership numbers.

Since taking over the studio late last year, James Gunn and Peter Safran, who are now co-heads of DC Studios, have been doing everything in their power to turn the boat around.

Their first order of business was to essentially flop everything on its head, scrapping many of the actors and characters that audiences have come to know over the last several years.

Bringing new stories to the forefront, not only will Supergirl be receiving her fair due with a film solely focused on her, but other titles including The Authority, The Brave and the Bold, and Swamp Thing are on the way.

Sasha Calle Replaced As Supergirl

As for Sasha Calle, the actress made her feature-length debut as Supergirl in The Flash and currently only has one other project lined up.

Directed by Daniel Minahan, the drama centers on a dangerous and tumultuous love triangle in the days following the Korean War.

Calle will appear in the movie alongside a cast that includes Jacob Elordi, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Will Poulter, and Diego Calva.
