The Chairman Senate Committee On Diaspora and Non-Governmental Organizations, Senator Dr. Victor Umeh representing Anambra Central on Saturday expressed his unwavering firmness of purpose in supporting local manufacturers.
Senator Umeh stated this at the 40th Anniversary of Cutix Plc and grand reception organized by the company for its co-founder and immediate past Chairman of the company, Ambassador Obi Nwosu.
“I am in the Senate Committee for Industry. I believe in Made in Nigeria. I sponsored a motion recently in support of local electricity meter manufacturers. I challenged contracting foreign companies to import electricity meters to Nigeria. I said no to it that Nigerians can manufacture electricity meters. I fought it in the Senate and I won.” Senator Umeh said.
He described Cutix Pls as a national brand, adding that in all his structural development and dealings he has always patronized Cutix Plc.
“Cutix Plc is one business that has endured and survived as a result of mutual trust and partnership between the founder, Engr Dr. Ajulu Uzodike, and co-founder.
“These two persons for 40 years have been together. People have started business partnerships and ended up in crisis but these people have stuck together for 40 years.”
“I congratulate you for this legacy which people will have to emulate, staying together and working together for growth and development.” Senator Umeh added.
In attendance at the event were the Presidential candidates of the Labour Party (LP) in the last general election – Mr Peter Obi, Professor ABC Nwosu, Senator Ben Obi, Traditional rulers, Government officials, Captains of industry as well as Members of the public.
