UZODIMMA’S 2ND TERM INAUGURATION: SEVEN WAYS IMO GOVERNOR MADE HISTORY

(Yesterday), Governor Uzodimma’s place in history as the most popular governor in Imo’s history was cemented following his second term inauguration. Imolites from all walks of life and politicians; both friends, foes and those in between filled up the Dan Anyiam stadium venue of the event, as excitement, hope, and joy filled the air. But, I am not going to talk about these excitements, because it is already obvious why Imo people are excited; the man they voted for is the man that was sworn in, and the presence of almost every known political leader in the State, including those who were sworn opponents of his in his first term, makes it almost certain that this is going to be a more stable and indeed, prosperous term for the people of Imo State.

However, beyond the pomp and pageantry of the inauguration ceremony, the governor also seized the opportunity to make some unmistakable political statements that would continue to reverberate in the political consciousness of all Nigerians for a very long time. Below are some of the ways he made history;

Governor Uzodimma is the first ever governor to attract the presence of an incumbent President to his swearing-in ceremony, since the advent of the Fourth Republic.
Governor Uzodimma is the first governor in Nigeria’s history to bring an incumbent and former President to physically witness his swearing-in ceremony.
Governor Uzodimma is the first and only governor whose swearing-in ceremony coincides with the very special and solemn Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

As well as being the first governor to bring Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Bola Tinubu to attend the same event together since after May 29th, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma also makes history by being the first governor to attract the highest number of first class traditional rulers from across Nigeria to grace his swearing-in ceremony.
