The Kwara North Youth 2023 Agenda forum has berated political leaders from Kwara North senatorial district who accepted appointment into the Kwara All Progressives Congress, APC Governorship Campaign Council.

The group in a statement released on Friday, said their appointment into the Council was an act of betrayal and a disservice to the entire Kwara North people who hold high expectation of the region producing the next Governor of the State, following years of political marginalisation.

It wondered why leaders from Kwara North would accept to serve in the Campaign Council of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq when their kinsman is also in the governorship race.

“Sometimes in 2020, a group of concerned youth from Kwara North met with our respected fathers, leaders and critical stakeholders from the district to solicit their support for 2023 Kwara North Agenda, and they all agreed and promised to work for the realisation of this Agenda. In fact, they expressly declared that they would support any political party that picks its Gubernatorial candidate from our region.

“It is however disappointing and heartbroken to see some of these our leaders who were at the forefront of the 2023 Kwara North Agenda accept appointment into Kwara APC Governorship Campaign Council. Their action is a betrayal of trust and disservice to the people of Kwara North who have high expectations of the region producing the next Governor of our dear State.

“We are by this statement calling out people like Alh. Makama Audu, Alh. Engr. Yahaya Yunusa, Alh. Ndakene and Alh. Alhassan Maryam to come out and tell us why they have accepted to serve in the APC Campaign Council and work against the interest of the entire Kwara North people.

“The Kwara North Youth 2023 Agenda Forum hereby advises them to denounce their appointments into the Kwara APC Governorship Campaign Council and declare support for their own, Alhaji Shuaib Yaman who’s not only flying the flag of the PDP but that of the entire Kwara North people.”
